Philosophy

Aging and illness are universal, but how we respond to these challenges shapes the quality of our lives. Kara’s Pilates practice is deeply informed by her experiences with yoga, meditation, and mindfulness, making it more than just exercise—it’s a holistic approach that emphasizes functional movement and injury prevention.

Kara’s teaching method is gentle and empathetic, with a focus on long-term well-being. She believes that movement can and should empower people to navigate life’s transitions with confidence, whether they are pregnant, recovering from illness, or adapting to the natural changes that come with aging.

Her philosophy is shaped by personal experience. A BRCA1-positive individual who underwent a double mastectomy in her early 40s, Kara worked hard to rebuild her strength and movement after her operation. This determination to fully recover has long inspired Kara’s teaching practice, where she tailors sessions to meet her clients’ unique needs, helping them understand their bodies better.

“Everybody deserves to move, if that’s what they want to do. If movement is part of your life, then it’s strange to have to stop moving at the end of life,” Kara reflects.

Kara has found that movement, breath, and touch not only restore a sense of confidence but also help clients reconnect with themselves when facing health challenges. She meets people where they are, guiding them to explore what they are capable of, and helping them rediscover movement as a way of feeling empowered.
